The Mercury Music Prize is an annual event which invloves promoting the sales of about twelve albums by putting them on a widely-publicised shortlist, then giving the award to one of the more obscure nominees.
Every year, I see the shortlist, note how many of them I already have and wait for the ones I like to not win. But this year, something seems to have gone wrong. The award has actually gone to a real band who play real instruments and perform real songs. Yes, it’s Franz Ferdinand, who I have mentioned here before, and whose debut album is still one of my favourites of the year. I’m shocked.
Or “crap” as sometimes seems to be the case
 Or “right”, perhaps.
