The Hours – Back When You Were Good
I mentioned The Hours not long ago after their first single got itself nicely hooked into my brain. Well, here’s the second, which is the kind of thing for which the word “anthemic” was probably invented.
Don’t take my word for it, you can hear the song, and some others, on their MySpace page.
Lots more new music on the way. ![]()
The first of many?
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Unsigned band make chart history
I mentioned on Monday that the new singles chart regime was going to be interesting. And it’s already happening. Koopa, an unsigned band have entered the chart at 31 after a nifty bit of self-promotion on their own site and the ubiquitous MySpace.
Interesting times, or something.
Talk about the weather
More observant readers will have noticed the weather information on the sidebar of Losing it[1]. This is generated by the WeatherIcon plugin, which is moving gradually towards version 3.
I was just checking for the latest beta release (it’s now on 2.99.110) when I noticed that the developers had found another set of icons, which are licensed from Stardock. I’ve switched across to them, as I think they have that certain something.
Testing times ahead
There’s a major new release of WordPress coming soon. As version 2.1 involves lots of changes to the underlying code, I’ve been testing the current beta version on a copy of Losing it[1].
I was able to import all the posts and comments, and just needed to beat it up a little bit to get the tags working properly. And then came the fun bit of getting all the plugins working. As it happens, most of them worked without any trouble at all, but there are a few that are expecting things to be in different places, and they’ve been crashing and burning, or at least not working.
I’ll be doing more playing and tweaking, and I’ll be looking for updates to the broken plugins, or other ways of doing what they do.
More details later…
Oh, and this morning’s weight was a bit high. More exercise tomorrow. Definitely.
