I’ve got a geode
The Natural World is an interesting shop. They sell a wide range of generally quite cool stuff. Telescopes, boomerangs, educational toys, polished stones, this, that and quite probably the other. Unfortunately, they seem to have gone out of business, and the Newcastle shop closes this weekend.
The good side of this is that everything in the shop is now half-price, including this rather nice agate geode. It’s not a huge one – only about 65mm high, but the deep blue colour is very attractive. I’ve thought about getting one or more of these for a while, and as it was reduced to £6.50, I couldn’t say no. While it’s a nice thing to have on my desk, I also got it as a good subject for some still life photography. I plan to play around with different angles and different lighting, and generally see what I can do with it. The pictures here are just my first steps. More to come, probably.
Moving along
While I didn’t do the walking to work thingy today[1], I did do a proper exercise session this evening:
- 10km on the exercise bike
- A Bullworker session
- 160, yes 160 crunch thingies
- Five minutes on the rowing machine
Unusually, the bike session didn’t get my heart rare up very much, but the rowing made up for it, giving me a peak rate of 141.
