New Balance Joy Division | Hypebeast – Online Magazine for Fashion, Sneakers, and Culture

Trainers (or “sneakers” for furriners) featuring the wavy lines pattern from Joy Division’s first album, Unknown Pleasures[1] on the sole and the tongue. My immediate reaction was that this looked quite cool. Having thought about it a bit, I still think it’s pretty cool. I’ve seen one or two sites where people are suggesting that these shoes are not a Good Thing, and a sign of the collapse of civilisation, or some such. I’m not sure why. After all, t-shirts with the same design have been sold for many years without anyone accusing anyone of doing horrible things to the musical legacy of a wonderful band, so why should shoes be a problem?

And surely this means that it’s only a matter of time before we can get those Joy Division Oven Gloves that Half Man Half Biscuit have been promising.
