Cranes

Cranes

This is another of today’s pictures. This is one side of the surprisingly large site that’s been cleared for the Eldon Square North redevelopment. There’s not a lot to see at the moment, but no doubt frameworks and walls will start rising soon.

Weight Report – 8 April 2008

Oooh! More progress! I’m down another pound today, which is quite encouraging. Of course, I’m still heavier than I was a few weeks ago, but I seem to be recovering the lost ground.

I walked to work again, though my knees started moaning part way there[1]. As I mentioned in my last post I had a longish walk at lunchtime, which involved some hills. Once again, I was a Good Boy at lunchtime, and eschewed rather than chewed the sausage rolls[2]. And to round it off, I walked home again. I stopped off at the Gateshead town centre demolition site and took a few pictures of the place with its tasteful new wooden overcoat[3]. My knees objected to the rest of the walk, but I persuaded them not to kill me….

[1] Note to self: when you run out of Glucosamine, remember to buy some more. Don’t leave it for a while because your knees aren’t giving you trouble at the time.[4]
[2] I’m convinced they’re a major contribution to my weight

Good trick if you can do it…

I went for another lunchtime walk with my camera today. I had a wander down to the Quayside, walked along to have a look at the quite interesting towering thingy that’s going up between the Metro and King Edward bridges, then walked up via the Centre for Life and on to the Eldon Square redevelopment site. As I passed the Centre for Life, my eye was drawn to this sign. Now I know they’re doing all kinds of clever research there that could eventually lead to cures for all manner of diseases, but I hadn’t realised until now that they were actually working on something much more advanced: humans who can teleport. Yes, it seems to work in this building you need to be a Tomorrow Person and just jaunt your way in. Either that, or you’ll need some highly advanced technology that I’m sure isn’t supposed to be available this early in the twenty-first century.

It’s only a matter of time before the Doctor comes to check it out. Either him, or Torchwood. Something must be done to protect humanity from these scary people who can move through securely closed doors! Save us! Will no-one think of the children, etc!
