Another Little Experiment

I’m starting to play with some new software toys. One of them might help me remember things[1] and the other might help me with screenshots, which I tend to do a lot of. And what’s more, the two of them can be used together.
Most people will have no idea what I’m going on about, but the little picture to the left will be a hint to the more informed. More later.

Weight Report – 12 April 2008
Oh no!! I’m heavier today!
But it’s only by a very small amount, so I’ll accept it as a random daily fluctuation thingy.
You’ll Believe a Penguin Can Fly!
I was really impressed with this promotional clip shown on BBC TV earlier this month[1] in which former Python[2], current historian and general Good Thing, Mr Terry Jones introduced the world to a unique colony of penguins:
I’d meant to comment on it before, but linking to the BBC iPlayer thingy seemed a bit awkward. But as the BBC have put it on their own YouTube channel, here it is for your amazement and entertainment.
And while I’m sure Losing it[1] readers are all intelligent enough to realise that this was the latest in a long line of famous BBC April Fool jokes[3], I think it’s worth including this clip which shows how it was done:
No penguins were harmed in the making of this post.

Lightroom 1.4.1 is available
Following the rapid withdrawal of Lightroom 1.4, the developers at Adobe have been hard at work fixing the breakages[1], and a revised release is now available. This includes the updates that were in the slightly dodgy 1.4, but removes the entertaining date/time and JPEG managling bugs.
For people who are using Photoshop CS3 for RAW conversions, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) has been updated to version 4.4.1, which adds support for more cameras and again removes the bugs introduced in the last update. And there’s also an update to the Adobe DNG converter to match ACR.
You can see the official Lightroom announcement for download links.
