This was another good one from a mixed case. I’ve generally shunned American wines, as the stuff generally found in the shops at non-exotic prices tends to be a bit on the bland side, and the good stuff tends to be outside my usual price range.

But this was a pleasant surprise. It’s a 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from Jacktone Ranch of California. Nicely full-bodied, lots of taste, and powerful enough not to be overwhelmed by the moderately hot chilli that the second half of the bottle[1] accompanied.
