I mentioned when I bought the Canon 5D Mk II that the one drawback would be that some of the lenses I bought for the 30D wouldn’t work. I have to say that I hadn’t done a thorough check, but now I have, the news is generally pretty good.  The obvious loss is the 17-85mm IS lens that came with the 30D, but as the 24-105mm IS lens that lives on the 5D is a superior substitute, that’s not a problem. Of the other lenses, the only one that isn’t suitable for full-frame sensors is the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle beastie.

So it looks like I’ll need to buy something in the wide angle range. There are a few possibilities which I’m looking into, including another Sigma model – 12-24mm should be wide enough. The other possibilities include something even wider…
