Comic Relief is an excellent cause – it’s a charity that funds projects around the world as well as in its base here in the UK. While it works continuously to raise funds and carry out its work, the highlight of its calendar has to be Red Nose Day. The latest one of these was yesterday, and lots of things went on around the country (we did some fundraising at work, which was fun). But the big bit is the telethon thingy. This involves lots of entertaining bits which you’re encouraged to enjoy while being asked to donate some money. As I was otherwise occupied at the time, I didn’t watch it, but I knew I’d have to seek one part of it out: a new bit of Doctor Who, and we don’t get anywhere near enough of those.
I found it this morning on the iTunes store, where for not very much money at all, I got a 16 minute video which included the Doctor Who bits, a mini episode of the sitcom Outnumbered and a bit of Harry Hill doing Autumnwatch at the wrong time of year with a pile of guest stars having a laugh at themselves. Good value, and if you don’t do anything else for Comic Relief, it’s worth cost of the download. While you’re there, seek out the classic Curse of Fatal Death, a Doctor Who spoof starring (amongst many others) Rowan Atkinson as the Doctor – this was shown during the brief unpleasantness, otherwise known as the time when Doctor who was absent from TV.
In the new story – shown in two short episodes, there’s a lot of silliness and no less than two Amy Ponds, followed by an additional Rory and an extra Doctor. Amy gets flirty, Rory gets slapped, and it’s all good fun.
If you can’t get the iTunes version, the two episodes are available on the BBC’s YouTube channel, and oh, what the heck, here’s part one:
What’s that? You want more? OK, here’s part two:
And as a special bonus for everyone who watched that, right at the end there’s a caption telling us something we’ve all been waiting to hear:
will return in
The Impossible Astronaut
Woo Whoooooooooooooooo! :bouncy:
