Wow! Shock, horror, sensation, etc! For our last full day in North Wales, the sun came out, the sky stayed clear and the rain was conspicuous only by its absence and the odd puddle lingering here and there.
Today, we started in Llandudno, where we rode the tramway to the summit of the Great Orme, where there was a good view. After that, we had lunch in a branch of Wetherspoon’s that used to be a cinema. Lovely decor. After a wander around the town, we went to Conwy, where I got some pictures of the castle and Thomas Telford’s superb suspension bridge, which is now in the care of the National Trust. I’ve seen pictures of this before, but seeing it in the stone and metal was quite different. Here’s a picture

After Conwy, we headed for the aviation museum at Caernarfon Airport, which in the finest tradition of airports everywhere, isn’t all that near Caernarfon. And that rounded off the day nicely, apart from a quick detour to another lovely bay.
We’ve barely scratched the surface of things to see and do in North West Wales, so we’re planning to do the same thing next year.
