Hmmm, up again today. Not sure where that came from, but never mind, etc. Or so I keep telling myself. Well, as the purple bird of motivation hasn’t been seen in these parts, this kind of thing is only to be expected.
I did the usual moderately boring shopping thing, did the washing and vaguely considered going out, as the rain seemed to have gone away while I was in Tesco’s. Blue sky, sun shining, even. Then I saw a “Yellow warning” from the Met office. Now, as it’s been raining quite a lot lately without a sniff of a warning, this seemed a bit odd. It stopped seeming odd when it got a bit darker and the rain returned. It’s been the usual persistent stuff with the occasional burst of extremely heavy rain that looked like it would cause bruises if you were out in it. So my cunning non-plan of staying in turned out to be a good one.
Today’s picture is a detail of the old Bank of England in Newcastle. Some rather odd things in the roof area – are they wind funnels, a secret very big public address system, or something else altogether? Maybe the building has deep-set eyes…

He’s a relative of the equally mythical blue bird of happiness, apparently
Curious expression that, I must remember not to use it again
