Rik Mayall is dead, dammit

Rik Mayall was a star who appeared in a quite impressively varied range of roles. From the anarchist student of The Young Ones, the ultra-Thatcherite[1] MP of The New Statesman to the outrageous aristocrat of Blackadder, not to mention a nifty guest role in the occasional Jonathan Creek, Rik was often a delight, frequently hilarious and quite definitely a Good Thing.

And now he’s gone. All that seems to be known so far is that he died suddenly at home.

I think I need to dig out my New Statesman DVDs and watch them all again…
