Philip Pullman is, of course, the author of the popular, and rather good, His Dark Materials trilogy. But it seems he’s been doing some political thinking of late, and in a piece in today’s Guardian, he has some interesting suggestions for how the currently in disarray Conservative Party could reposition itself in time for the next election. All the ideas he proposes, carefully phrased as “conservative” values, are of course, traditional Labour Party policies. But as the Labour Party isn’t using them any more, it would be nice if somebody did.
Not that there’s the slightest chance of it happening, of course.
