Some time ago, I mentioned that I’d joined the Chocolate Tasting Club. Since then, I’ve been enjoying the monthly selections, and buying the occasional other product from Hotel Chocolat, the parent company of the club. As a club member, I get a discount on their really rather good products. Their delivery service is quick and reliable, and their website is nicely laid out, and easy to use. They’re also opening a chain of shops around the UK – but nowhere near me yet, which is probably just as well…
Anyway, the reason for me bringing this up is that they’ve introduced a new variation on the Chocolate Tasting Club. I’d read in the monthly newsletter that this was planned, but I’d more or less forgotten about it until I got THE EMAIL on Monday. Yes, they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In addition to the regular Chocolate Tasting Club, they now offer The All Dark Club. Same principle, same high quality, but the monthly box contains only dark chocolates. And as I like my chocolate dark and with a seriously high cocoa content, I clicked through to the website faster than a very fast thing that’s in a hurry. The only drawback is that the extra cocoa content increases the cost of production, so the All Dark Club costs £17.95 rather than the £15.95 for the normal Chocolate Tasting Club. But that’s a small price to pay for the serious chocolate fan, and it didn’t make me hesitate for a moment. Club members have the choice of switching from the regular club to the All Dark Club, or of getting both selections each month. I opted for restraint, and made the switch.
The first box was priced at £9.95, the same as the special deal for people just joining. I didn’t realise that until I saw the account details on the website. As I was expecting to pay the full price, that was a pleasant surprise. And the box arrived today. I’ve tried a few of the chocolates in the box and all I can say is WOW .
Seriously good stuff, including a lovely Chilli Truffle.
If you’re in the UK, and you like proper chocolate, pop over to the club site and order a trial box. There’s no commitment, and if you do decided to stay with the club, you can cancel at any time. For those of you in other countries, you can order from the rest of the product range (though the delivery charges can be scary).
And, err, no. I don’t get any commission on this. I just thought I’d spread the word a bit.
That’s one of those understatement thingies
They don’t hang about, you know
