The Eggcorn Database

Now this is disturbing. The Eggcorn Database presents an ever-growing collection of bizarre linguistic mangling. Eggcorn? Ah, yes. It’s an expression from the Language Log for those occasions where someone uses the wrong word, typically a homophone, or a moderately close approximation for one. Examples include:

  • Floorless for flawless
  • Turban for turbine

And many, many more.

Thanks to Michèle for that one.
