Head for the hills!

BBC NEWS | UK | UK ‘can expect extreme rainfall’

Britain can expect more tropical-style rainfall as climate change gathers pace, according to research carried out by Newcastle University. Scientists said extreme conditions that are likely to lead to flooding have become more common and intense over the last 40 years. They found that rainstorms have doubled in intensity in places like eastern Scotland and north-east England.

We have had some heavy rain lately. Really heavy rain, that is. Not the usual “pouring down” stuff, but much more intense. Now this sort of thing is not exactly unknown, but it used to be a maybe once a year thing. Now it seems it really is becoming more common. And this is the sort of rain that overloads drains, makes rivers burst their banks and generally gets things a wee bit soggy.

All I can say is that I’m glad I live on high ground…
