Ooooooooooh dear. GNER’s owner has filed for Chapter 11 protection in the US. This is generally a sign that things are not going entirely well. We are being reassured that this won’t have any effect on GNER’s operations, but I feel a little scepticism might be appropriate.
Questions are being asked, mainly along the lines of “why did you bid so much money when your parent company was in financial trouble?” and “which idiot decided this was a sensible way to run the railways anyway?”.
