For what seems like ages, there has been something going on on Bottle Bank, adjacent to the Gateshead end of the Tyne Bridge. It looked like a plinth or platform was being constructed, but I had no idea what it was for. New lighting? Security cameras? Apparently not.
On my way home last night, I saw for the first time that the plinth was for another Gateshead public sculpture. It’s a memorial to James Hill, a 19th century fiddle player who lived in the vicinity. This BBC report has a picture and more details.
I’ll be taking my own pictures soon.
