This is something I saw in Manchester when I was there in May.
It’s part of a larger group called Messenger of Peace, which can be found next to that glorious piece of what I like to call Barking Mad Victorian Architecture, Manchester Town Hall. Anyway, while the overall piece is a pleasant enough modern piece, there was something about this one little bird that amused me.
I don’t know if someone deliberately put the lolly stick there, or whether it was just one of those happy accident thingies, but either way, I like the way the bird is carefully examining it. This has been cropped down to remove the base of the statue, but otherwise hasn’t had a lot of fancy treatment.
I look forward to RIBA adopting this term in due course
