You might have noticed that I had a Farcebook thingy in the sidebar for a few days. I was persuaded to sign on to the thing by a particularly persuasive friend, and I made connections with a few people I know.
But the more I looked at it, the more convinced I became that my initial reaction was right. Farcebook is just a slightly less hyperactive version of MySpace. I’m sure lots of people love it, and have all kinds of fun with it, but it really doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest. Do I really want to know that somebody I know has slapped somebody I don’t know with a wet fish, or whatever it is people do there? Not really. I think I’ll just ignore it from now on…
But I have found one of these thingies that looks more like my kind of site: isolatr. Seems you can’t actually sign up to it yet, but it does look useful. Curmudgeon? Me? You bet!
I’m not encouraging it by giving its proper name
 You know who you are!
Is it just me, or does anyone else get flashbacks to hideous late 90s Geocities homepages when they see MySpace? It’s got the garish colours, the text that’s unreadable because of background pictures, and even the auto-bloody-matically playing music when the page loads.
