Aha! In a moderately surprising move, it has been announced that David Tennant’s successor as Doctor Who will be a not particularly well-known young actor, Matt Smith. At 26, he’ll be the youngest actor yet to play the role.
Of course, we won’t actually see him as the Doctor until next year – we still have the final special episodes to come, which will presumably end with a regeneration.
I’m quite happy for the role to go to a relative unknown – it’s worth remembering that before he became the Doctor, David Tennant wasn’t that well know either.
Update: You can see an interview with Matt on the BBC Doctor Who site.
