Doctor Who – The Next Doctor DVD

I don’t generally mention the individual episode DVDs from the new series, as I normally don’t bother to get them, preferring to wait for the enhanced versions with extras in the annual box set. But as the schedule for this year’s four extras is still slightly secret, I’ve no idea how long I’ll have to wait for the smaller than usual 2009 set. So, I did indeed buy this one.

The DVD contains the Christmas episode and one extra. But it’s a nice extra – the Doctor Who at the Proms concert, presented by Freema Agyeman with help from assorted Cybermen, Judoon, Sontarans, Daleks and that nice Davros chap, and including loads of Murray Gold’s music. And there’s a lovely little mini-episode with David Tenant having a bit of fun. It all looks and sounds good, and it’s worth seeing if you haven’t caught it previously.

Not an essential purchase, but I enjoyed watching the two Davids playing off each other again. And the Cyberking was so deliciously bonkers, that it had to be seen again. And just a few days to a new episode, woo hooooo!
