Down again today. More random oddness…

For your picture of the day, let’s go back to Tynemouth Priory. On the same site as the ruined Priory, there’s a 1980s Coastguard station (now as abandoned as the Priory itself) and a First World War gun battery. A 6-inch gun is in place, and more interestingly, the tunnels below the guns have been restored to how they would have appeared in 1915. Here’s a room, complete with newspaper:

The modern electrical socket on the wall spoils the effect slightly, but they make up for that with the newspaper on the table (presumably a replica)
