Photo fun with 100 Cameras in 1

One of those RSS feeds I skim through on a daily basis alerted me to yet another nifty iPhone camera app. There are lots around that do various combinations of:

  • Taking pictures
  • Applying various effects and filters
  • Quickly and easily adding them to Twitter, or Farcebook, or other places

I’ve had a play with Instagram, for instance, and it’s not at all bad. Only a small number of effects, but it does what it does very well.

But now there’s something more, well, photographic. 100 Cameras in 1 will let you take a picture, or if you’ve got one you took earlier, it’ll just as happily play with that. Once you’ve taken your picture, you get the option to crop it and scale it, and then the fun starts.

You can apply any of the numerous effects that come with the app, then you can save that back to your camera roll. Or, you can add another effect, and another, and carry on playing and fiddling with your picture until you get what you want. You can always save your file so it’s accessible from iPhoto (or Lightroom or Aperture for that matter), and you also have the usual “sharing” options.

First impressions are that this could be a lot of fun, and with a bit of experimentation, you could create some really nice images. Here are a couple I took today on my lunchtime walk:

And here’s Tigger, who’s either attacking my coffee machine, or protecting it. It’s hard to be sure…

The app costs £1.19, or $1.99 in the US. Not bad at all. Full details from the developer:
