Preparing for Lion: Reverse Scrolling

One of the features of the due out any day now OS X 10.7 (or Lion to give its friendly name) is that the direction of scrolling is reversed by default. After many years of scrolling working the same way, this is likely to cause confusion for many users, though it does mean that iPhones and Macs will now behave the same way, which may be a good thing once we’ve all got used to it[1].

A MacWorld article alerted me to a little bit of free software that lets you reverse your scroll direction on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I’ve installed it, and it’s working nicely. It’s definitely a bit odd at first, but I’m getting used to it. This works well with a trackpad – I suspect it would be harder to get used to with a scroll wheel mouse…
