Weight and Stuff Report – 7 September 2011

Down a pound today, in what will probably turn out to be another bit of random fluctuation. I set off to walk to work this morning, having missed yesterday. I’d just about got to Gateshead Metro when it started to rain, but I didn’t let it put me off. Instead, I got my coat out of my bag[1], put it on and carried on. By the time I got to the old Town Hall, the rain had stopped  But then it started again as I crossed the Tyne Bridge, mutter. Anyway, I managed the walk, and that’s what counts. Garmin and Runkeeper evidence is available for the more curious amongst you[2].

Today’s picture is a glimpse of some Newcastle rooftops, with Earl Grey apparently standing on one of them. Obviously looking for some tea

[1] As I walk quickly enough to get quite warm and a wee bit sweaty, I find it more comfortable to not wear anything over my shirt when I’m walking.
[2] Hi Twisty

I hope they mean it this time

A long time ago, I was happy to report that the ugly bollards around the Millennium bridge were to be removed by the end of the year. Well, that year ended, and were into the last third of the following one, and as I mentioned in the summer the damn things are still there.

But it’s reported today that Gateshead council are intending to make an announcement next week about removing them. Tell you what, guys – don’t bother announcing it, just rip them out and then tell us all about it.

BBC News – Gateshead Millennium Bridge bollards will be removed.
