Although that little, if not tiny, Sony camera might lack a bit in the serious image quality department, it does have one cool toy feature: sweep panorama. All you do is set the mode switch, then press the shutter and turn the camera to capture a nicely wide field of view. It works a lot better for scenes without moving objects, but those can produce some interesting effects, as you can see in this view from near Grey’s Monument:
As always, click the picture for a bigger version, where it should be easier to see the man in the red shirt appear several times, not to mention the young guy with the slightly missing face.
I also tried a more static scene, which worked a bit better, with a slight joining issue made obvious by the lettering.
A less sunny day would have been better here, as it’s a bit too bright over to the right.
This is the sort of thing you’d normally use software to achieve, and much better results can be obtained that way, but for quick pictures on the go, it’s good fun.
