Newcastle’s Discovery Museum has a lot of interesting stuff in it. Some of it is quite old, and was in the museum’s former incarnation as the Museum of Science and Engineering, such as the model of the Tyne as it was in 1929, on which I was able to find my own home, which was fun. But one of the more curious bits is the “Science Maze”, which contains some interactive hands-on things to keep the adults amused while the kids look at the exhibits, lots of old machinery, and an oddly random collection of gadgets. There’s an old video cassette recorder, a lovely collection of old tube TVs, and this little beast:
Yes, that’s an Apple Mac G4 Cube. It looks in remarkably shiny condition, too. I wonder if it was ever used? Picture taken with its distant relative, the iPhone 4S, of course.
