Oh good, back down a bit today. I once again failed to walk to work, but I was persuaded to walk home, which wasn’t a Bad Thing.
Today’s picture is an intriguing old building on Newgate Street. If you keep your eyes at street level, you may not have noticed it, tucked as it is between newer, larger structures. The shop unit has had a variety of uses over the years, and looks quite ordinary. But when you look upwards, you see this:
The shape of the windows and the clear marks of where crosses and crests were previously on place suggests some sort of religious use in its past. Though that doesn’t really account for its almost fortress-like design.
