O Fortuna!

Here’s one more picture from Segedunum. In a fairly dark room in the bath house, I got this shot of the idol of Fortuna. If she looks a little soft, it’ll be the slow shutter speed:

And if you think her name is familiar, you’ve probably got this going through your head:

Though possibly without the misheard lyrics.

Weight and Stuff Report – 9 April 2012

No change today, which is acceptable.

What’s less acceptable is that I’ve got The Lurgy. Well, a cold-type thingy, anyway. Woke up this morning with my sinuses attempting to enlarge my head, or at the very least make room for themselves by pushing my eyes out of the way. Not pleasant at all. I don’t feel quite so bad now, but I was rough enough to give up on an attempted walk after a couple of hundred metres. So my plan for the rest of the day is now to watch some DVDs from the pile of stuff I haven’t got round to.

Today’s picture is the reconstructed bath house at Segedunum. It’s based on ruins found at other sites, and its location isn’t intended to represent where the original would have been.

If my head doesn’t fall off, I’ll post some more pictures later…

That’s pretty deep…

More fun stuff from xkcd – a nicely detailed guide to the world’s deepest lakes and oceans. Click to see it all in its natural environment, then click again to see the full-sized version, which includes some fascinating details. And some suitably bonkers ones, of course.
