Ho hum, up a teeny bit today.
Today, I had to change the habit of the last, err, well, getting on for thirty years, and go and do my regular shopping somewhere other than Tesco in Gateshead, due to the shop being somewhat closed and a bit of a demolition site at present. I had a few options, including trying the small temporary shop they’ve opened nearby (which would have been simple), trying a different supermarket altogether (awkward, more buses and such), or have an expedition on the Metro to the big Tesco at Kingston Park. I decided on the last option, to see how long it would take and if it would be excessively annoying.
Well, it wasn’t bad. Big shop, more stuff, more people, with just as many of them blocking aisles as in the smaller Gateshead one. The main difference was the time factor – going to Gateshead to shop takes, in general, a little over an hour depending on this and that. Going to Kingston Park took two and a half hours, which wasn’t too bad, but I probably won’t want to do that every week. I suspect I’ll just go there when I want to get more stuff, and use the smaller branches in Gateshead and Newcastle for smaller amounts of shopping.
OK, that’s the boring shopping bit out of the way, and here’s your picture. This is a tower on the harbour in Bristol:
