OK, no weight change today, which will do for now.
The rain came back last night, and there was still plenty of it to go around today. Not really heavy rain, just enough to get you wet, and with a general disinclination to stop. I went so far as to wear my waterproof coat to work, as I knew I had to have a bit of a walk. As I have to go to Leeds tomorrow, I carefully planned to collect my tickets from the machine at the station today, so I could avoid delays tomorrow. Just as well, really. If today’s fun had happened tomorrow, I’d have more than likely missed the train, which would have been annoying.
The way it works with these machines is nice and simple. You tap the “collect previously ordered tickets” button on the touchscreen, slide in the credit (or debit) card you used to pay for the tickets, and the machine talks to the database before printing out your tickets. Well, that’s what usually happens, anyway.
This time, instead of five little bits of card (two tickets, two seat reservations and a receipt), I got two, neither of which would have been much use on a train as one was the receipt and the other a seat reservation which is of no use without an actual ticket. Having checked that I hadn’t somehow not seen them, I asked at the desk, and after a short delay, a manager came out and opened the machine. Sure enough, my missing tickets were clogged up in the slot, along with some others, which means that at least one passenger will have set off without all their tickets. Seemed to be nothing more than a paper jam – one ticket must have missed the slot where it’s supposed to drop down and then blocked the path of the others. Fun. Well, it’s about as much fun as I generally get on a wet Thursday morning…
Today’s picture is of what is apparently the World Harmony Peace Statue at Cardiff Bay.
