Aaaaaand I’m back home after just over a week in Wales. Despite a week of minimal activity and maximal eating, my weight is only a wee bit higher than before I went away.
Today’s trip home started with some minor drama, as the train from Pencoed to Cardiff was cancelled. As there is only one an hour, that would have meant me missing the next train from Cardiff, and generally getting home somewhat later. But my brother drove me into Cardiff, where I arrived in plenty of time to catch the train I was meant to be on. That ran on time all the way to Birmingham, where my connecting train to Newcastle did the same, apart from a short delay at York, where it waited for about ten minutes for a crew member to transfer from a delayed train. By the time the train reached Newcastle, it was pretty much on time. Yay, etc.
Of course, the fun bit about being away for a week is catching up with the post. I found something unexpected waiting for me, which was addressed to Les “Scrooge” Bessant, so I have a good guess who sent it. It just about fits around my rather thick wrist.
