Weight and Stuff Report – 18 March 2013

Oooh, down again today, what fun!

A slightly different working day  today, which started with a walk up Westgate Road to the St John Ambulance training centre for a fire marshal course. Fairly basic stuff, but covered the basics of what I should be doing in one of my additional roles. Then it was back to work for the afternoon.

Today’s picture is another one from Saturday’s South Shields walk. This is the statue of Dolly Peel, a famous character from South Shields’ past. When I saw the full sized image on my screen, I was quite impressed with how much detail the X100 had captured.

I remember the statue but I recall the pub of the same name better. Working in the oil industry we had come to the end of a project at the McNulty Yard and whilst still employed we had virtually nothing to do so we would adjourn to the Dolly Peel for an extended lunch. They had a good array of real ales and we would sample them all, well most of them. Then it was back to “work” to drink copious cups of coffee to sober up for the journey home. It was OK for me as I was travelling by Metro at the time. Happy days! I gather the pub is still as good as was in those halcyon days of the late 80s, well I hope so.
