Weight and Stuff Report – 26 March 2013

Ho hum, up a bit today.

There was a slight dusting of snow last night, which rather oddly covered the pavement on my side of the road, but not the other. Must have been the wind, or something. There was more snow in the air for much of the day, but none of it seemed inlined to actually stay on the ground. All very odd.

Today’s picture is a black and white view of Tynemouth Priory:

You might recall the colour version which appeared here recently, but in case you don’t, here it is again:

More software playing to come…

Nik Software – New low price!

Oooooooh, now there’s a bargain. I’ve occasionally thought of buying one or more of the Nik Software plugins – Silver Efex Pro being a very highly regarded thingy for black and white, and with other toys available. But the relatively high prices put me off, and I stuck with OnOne’s Perfect Effects.

Then came the Google thingy. Google bought Nik, mainly to get hold of their mobile apps, or so it seemed at the time, but as of now, the Nik applications are being offered as being the Nik Collection by Google, and you can now get the full set for $149. For European buyers, that includes the VAT, so that actually is what you’ll pay for an immediate download.

As I can’t resist a bargain, I grabbed it this morning, and here’s a quick test. This is a sample using one of the presets, without any additional tweaking. I’ll do some more later…
