Weight and Stuff Report – 9 May 2013

Hmmm, up a bit today. I had a brief escape from the office at lunchtime, but as it started raining enough to be annoying, I soon went back. On the other hand, I did get some exercise going up and down stairs to beat an annoying server into submission. Damn silly thing wouldn’t work properly until I fed it a CD with the right version of VMWare instead of the wrong one. Mutter.

While I was out, I saw some moderately entertaining stuff going on at Monument Mall, which is being redeveloped and improved in an attempt to make it less devoid of shops than it was for most of its previous life.

This thing looked like fun. It’s a wossname for pumping cement up to higher floors:

Up...

Up…

As you can see, it’s got more joints than an arthropod convention, and operating it looks like a fiddly job. First it had to go all the way up:

And up...

And up…

Then part of it came down

And down

Then it bent over a bit

And down

Before finally getting more or less where it was needed.

And in

I couldn’t help wondering how many buckets of cement they could have lifted up there in the time it took to move that complicated arm thingy…
