Weight and Stuff Report – 15 May 2013

As I suspected, yesterday’s low figure was a bit of a random wossname, and I’m back up a bit today. But I’m still lighter than I’ve been in quite a while, so that’s not so bad.

Having worked all weekend, I took today off for a couple of reasons. First, I had a visit to my new dentist for an initial assessment and to get a plan in place for some repairs, maintenance and quite possibly refurbishment. It’s been a while, so there’s going to be lots of fun[1] stuff ahead. That went as well as could be expected, and I’m going back next week for a session with the hygienist, who’ll be cleaning, scraping, splicing the mainbrace, or something like that. After that, I’ll be back for some actual repair work.

The other reason for taking the day off was I wanted to so there! So naturally, it was a cold, wet and windy morning. Walking to the dentist’s, less than a mile from home, was slightly rough, but I survived. After getting home, I thought about what to do with the day, and eventually settled on a visit to the Baltic. As always, not everything appealed to me, but I did appreciate the installation by Fabrice Hyber, which included a garden shed with a thunderstorm in it[2], another one with a hurricane in it[3], oddly appealing charcoal sketches on the walls, a slightly disturbing Green Man thingy made out of bananas and other such things, and a portable rain storm. The last being a large balloon thingy with what I think were nylon lines representing rain, complete with curves at the floor end of them clearly marking splashes. Interesting stuff, and worth a look.

I then had a bit of a wander around Newcastle, did a wee bit of shopping and came home. The weather put me off any idea of trying to take photos today, so here are a couple from my recent trip to Berwick upon Tweed. This is a carefully disguised TARDIS, which seems to be spreading its influence, judging by the car just entering the frame at the left:
