Weight and Stuff Report – 27 July 2013

Down just over a pound today, but that is a weight measurement taken when I’d just got in from a hot day out at the Sunderland International Air Show. More details of that to follow, and loads of photos for me to work through, but here are a few rough samples to be going on with.

The show was opened by the Red Arrows, who did their usual display of precision flying. This is one of their less scary moments:

Flypast

Flypast

Camera: X-E1
Aperture: ƒ/9
Shutter speed: 1/1000s
Focal length: 55mm
ISO: 200

Other displays included the Red Bull Matadors:

Camera: X-E1
Aperture: ƒ/1
Shutter speed: 1/500s
Focal length: 300mm
ISO: 250

And the Blades, former Red Arrows pilots who like to do fun things like this:

Blades: Crazy

Camera: X-E1
Aperture: ƒ/11
Shutter speed: 1/500s
Focal length: 181.1mm
ISO: 200

I’ll need some time to look through the nearly 1,000 photos I took today. Some are of no use at all, some are in need of a bit of work, and some are OK. Bearing in mind the slower autofocus of the X-E1 compared to the Canon kit I’ve previously used (and indeed the manual focus for the shots I took with the Samyang mirror lens), I got some reasonable results.
