Hoooowwwwwl!

The crescent moon looked moderately interesting from my kitchen window, so I went upstairs, opened the back bedroom window and pointed my Fujifilm X-E1 and the Samyang 300mm f/6.3 mirror lens at it. I took a pile of photos, and some more of them may be useful later, but this one stood out to me as being worth playing with.

I made some adjustments in Lightroom (reducing the brightness, a bit of sharpening, and a simple black and white conversion), and cropped it right down to concentrate on the moon. Here’s my first stab at it:

And just to show how playing with a raw file can make all the difference, here’s the straight out of camera JPG version:

Which is a useful reminder to me that I need to look again at some images I thought weren’t of any use…

Weight and Stuff Report – 12 August 2013

Right, after that short posting break, I’m back with the usual daily wossname. I’ve changed the batteries in the scale, given it a good talking to, and given it a new position to stand in, which seems to have calmed it down a bit. I’ve no idea if it’s just making numbers up, but today’s weight is the same as Thursday’s, which seems moderately believable. I think.

Just one photo today, from last week’s Quayside walk. This one isn’t quite what I was aiming for, but bits of the bee are in focus. More macro practice is clearly needed…
