Coolest. Mashup. Mug. Ever.

Regular readers will have gathered that I’m ever so slightly keen on Doctor Who, and probably won’t be surprised to find that I’m a fan of The Big Bang Theory[1]. So I was very happy to be given this mug by my nieces[2]

Sweet.

[1] No, Sheldon is not based on me. Well, not entirely. I think.

The Time of the Doctor is Coming

Yes, tomorrow is that special day we all look forward to: Doctor Who Day![1] This year’s special, which is quite incredibly the ninth, is of course a special special as it’s Matt Smith’s final episode and marks the beginning of the reign of Peter Capaldi, which should be interesting…

Anyway, there’s a nice selection of clips and other bits and bobs on the BBC site:

Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor

[1] I believe some people still refer to 25 December by other names, but that’s just silly.

Stuff Report – 24 December 2013

I started the day with a quick walk to the local Tesco to get some essential supplies: croissants for tomorrow’s breakfast. I managed to time this nicely to dodge the wind, rain, hail, frogs and Dorothy’s house that were all flying around. Well, perhaps not all of those things. Maybe.

Other than that, it’s been a nicely relaxed day. Nibbles were eaten. Some wine may have been sampled.

Today’s photo is of a restaurant in South Shields featuring either some very bad parking or a but if promotional silliness that might be a sign that the premises used to have a different name.

Sherlock: Many Happy Returns

It’s been way too long since Sherlock apparently leapt to his apparent death[1] in The Reichenbach Fall – very nearly two years, in fact. And it appears to be two years in fiction, too. Anyway, the long-awaited third series starts on New Year’s Day with an episode nicely entitled The Empty Hearse[2], which will be followed by The Sign of Three and His Last Vow.

But just to whet our appetites, there’s a mini episode out now on the BBC iPlayer:

Sherlock – Many Happy Returns

And for those of you in places where iPlayer tells you to go away, there’s always YouTube. Oh, here it is:

[1] I’m attempting to cover all possibilities there
[2] Take “did you see what they did there” as read for all three episodes

Bah! Humbug!

Just getting into the proper spirit for the time of year. So much so that I even Santarised (or is that Santafied?) my usual avatar. A bit of autowossnaming by the Google thingy added snow to it without so much as a “with your leave” or a “by your leave”[1].

So there it is. Happy wossanme and a merry thingy. Or possibly the other way around.

[1] And definitely not a “poop poop”[2]
[2] That’s probably enough Toad[3] of Toad Hall references for one post
[3] That’s the indigenous Toad[4]
[4] I’m not indigenous![5]
[5] Well if you’re not, you very soon will be![6]
[6] OK, that’s really enough Toad of Toad Hall
