Oh good, down a pound today. Unless it is the scale having a laugh at my expense. It’s hard to tell, really…
As today started off with blue sky, sunshine and a general lack of gale force winds, I was motivated to go out. I started with breakfast at Frankie & Benny’s on the quite sensible grounds that this would get me out and about much earlier. I had what’s becoming my regular choice of food – the Works with a side order of mushrooms, and a couple of espressos. All very nice indeed. Having enjoyed that, I decided on my activity for the day. I took the Metro to Whitley Bay, walked down to the seafront then along to Tynemouth. I took a few photos along the way, and you’ll be seeing some results over the next few days. From Tynemouth, I took the Metro back to Newcastle, where after the briefest of wanders, I got the bus home.
After I got home, I decided I needed some supplies, so went back to Gateshead for a brief visit to Tesco’s, where I got some croissants for tomorrow and some other bits and pieces, including some half price Christmas boxes of shortbread, with a best before date in March.
Just one quick photo for now. I’ve been in Tynemouth many times over the years, but I don’t think I’d ever registered this sign before:

OK, it does make sense if you know that, as in quite a lot of northern towns, the main street through Tynemouth is called Front Street, and that it’s quite common for a side road or smaller road adjacent to a street to be called “Back Whatever Street”, but the combination is nicely odd. But then, I did live on Avenue Road for a while many years ago, which is even odder…
