Blackstar ID:Core – Mains Lead Recall

I’ve been having moderate amounts of fun with the Blackstar ID:Core 10 amp I bought not long ago, especially now they’ve updated the software so it actually, you know, works. So I was a little alarmed to get an email today from Guitar Guitar which alerted me to the fact that Blackstar have identified a problem with the mains leads supplied with UK copies of the amps in the ID:Core series. They helpfully included the warning Blackstar sent them which includes a picture of what to look for, which I’ll include here in the interests of spreading the word to as many people as possible:

Looks like somebody made a boo-boo and insulated the earth pin, which is not something you’re supposed to do. Replacement leads will be supplied. And if you’re in a hurry, the same kind of lead comes with a lot of laptops, so you may have a suitable one lying around…

Update: I’ve done a bit of digging and found a reference which shows  the kind of lead supplied with the amp. Definitely a dangerous and indeed illegal item.
