Up a bit today, as expected…
While I was enjoying my traditional Frankie & Benny’s breakfast this morning, it started to rain a wee bit. Well, I say a wee bit, but I might be understating slightly. It was pouring down. Rain bouncing off the quite impressive layer of surface water that was covering Trinity Square and giving the drains a good test…
I waited for it to slow down a bit before going to Tesco to do the equally traditional shopping. When I came out of there, the rain was just slowing down enough not to be too nasty, and by the time I got home, it had stopped. Bits of blue sky were in evidence, even.
So, I decided to go into Newcastle for a wander. While I was on the bus, it started to rain again, and by the time the bus got to Market Street, it was doing the stair rods thing again, so much so that I loitered in the bus shelter for a while before looking in some shops. And yes, it cleared up, the sun came out, etc. But I wasn’t going to be fooled again, so got a bus to the MetroCentre, where I succeeded in finally finding a new coat that I liked. Not only that, but it had been reduced in price from £79 to £39.
Having finished my MetroCentre business, I returned to Newcastle for a tiny bit of extra shopping, and headed for my bus, just as the rain started again. And now it’s dried up again. Fun.
Today’s photo is another one from the coast, and shows a distant tower. Once day, I’ll get round to working out what it is and why it’s there, but for now, it’s an interesting thing to the north of Whitley Bay:
