While I’m not planning to go into a lot of plot details, it’s likely that the random mutterings that follow will reveal some things you might prefer not to know if you haven’t seen the episode yet, so in my usual way, I’ll include this warning:
More fun and games this week, as the Earth is quite suddenly and unexpectedly covered in a forest that seems to have popped up overnight. While the Doctor tries to work out what’s going on, Clara and Danny are trying to keep track of the kids who’ve been having a sleepover in the National History Museum (played, as ever, by the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff), especially Maebh, a young girl who sees and hears things that might or might not actually be there. Well, this being Doctor Who, it turns out that they actually are there.
So what’s going on? Have the forests finally had enough of humans and their axes? And what’s going on with that big solar flare? The answer was quite obvious for once, which is probably why the Doctor didn’t work it out quicker.
The spoiler-infested Doctor Who Extra shows how London was transformed into a forest. Or maybe it was the other way around:
And next week, the two-part finale begins, and perhaps we’ll get to know who this Missy person really is. And how she’s managing to observe everything the Doctor gets up to. And if she’s the one who gave Clara his phone number. Oh, and there’s Cybermen, too…
