Hmmm, up a bit more this morning, which probably won’t be helped by the slightly different breakfast I had at Frankie & Benny’s this morning. Instead of the usual fairly standard Big Breakfast, I went for the triple stack pancakes, which looks like this:

After that and the shopping, I decided to make the most of the sunshine and head out to Durham. I was expecting to have the usual photographic wander, but found myself distracted by this:

After following the parade, which involved some very enthusiastic drumming of the kind you feel more than hear, I decided to carry on with my original plan and head to the cathedral. I decided to take a different route via the alleyway you can see in the background of the above photo. This was not a good move as it led to some steps that were carefully designed to be very hard to walk up. I don’t think I’ll go that way again..
Anyway, I took some more photos, which will be appearing here over the next few days. But here’s a sample – this is a close view of the Sanctuary knocker on the cathedral door:
And after that I went home.
