Haze Begone!

Lightroom has just updated to the new point release, which comes with an interesting new slider in the Effects panel. Dehaze is the new feature, and that’s what it does. Here are two version of the same image – the only adjustment I’ve made is to use a generous dose of Dehaze. I think combined with my usual tweaks, this may prove to be useful.

Here’s the before:

Before: Hazy

Before: Hazy

Camera: X-T1
Aperture: ƒ/14
Shutter speed: 1/200s
Focal length: 36.6mm
ISO: 500
Taken: 16 June, 2015
Location: 52° 57.1872′ 0″ N 3° 59.8622′ 0″ W

And here’s the dehazed version:

After: not so hazy

After: not so hazy

Camera: X-T1
Aperture: ƒ/14
Shutter speed: 1/200s
Focal length: 36.6mm
ISO: 500
Taken: 16 June, 2015
Location: 52° 57.1872′ 0″ N 3° 59.8622′ 0″ W

I’d probably use a little less of the effect in general, and possibly much less on the sky, but it does look interesting…
