August 2015 Round-up

Well, that’s one month I’m glad to see the last of.  All those long days and the just ended long weekend have taken it out of me a wee bit….

Weight

More ups and downs this month:

August 1: 206.1 pounds (14 stone 10.1 pounds, 93.5 kg)
August 31: 208.6 pounds (14 stone 12.6 pounds, 94.6 kg)

That’s an annoying rise of 2.5 pounds (1.1 kg)

Eating

Nothing too dramatic there

Exercise

Work. Disconnecting Computers. Carrying computers. Reconnecting computers. And again. And again.

Posting

A low posting month. Blame the work.

Stuff

A new toy has arrived, but all the work has robbed me of the time to play with it. Mutter.

Weight and Stuff Report – 31 August 2015

Down again today.

And what a day. We ended up doing a 13-hour day at work to get everything up and running for people coming back to work tomorrow. And I’ll be back in at 8 tomorrow to assist people who’ll need thingies changing as a result of me changing some wossnames[1] while we were sorting out the office rearrangement. Now I just have to make it through three days at work without collapsing in a heap.

Here are some rather detailed instructions:

Back down a bit.

And it was another long day of moving computers, connecting computers and testing that things actually worked after being moved. And guess what tomorrow’s all about? Yeah, more of the same.

Here’s a nicely preserved engine:

Hmmm, up again, if the scale is to be believed.

It was a fun start to the long weekend. Well, no, it wasn’t. It was a long day at work to start the long weekend. Most of my day was spent reconfiguring server stuff while Aaron assembled some chairs. We rounded off the day by moving loads of computers back on to the newly rearranged and re-topped desks before deciding to stop while we were both still capable of moving.

Tomorrow, it’ll be recabling the desks and putting all the computers back together. Then testing everything to make sure nothing’s too broken. This will probably spill over to Monday, but we’re hoping to get some of the day off, before returning to work on Tuesday to deal with all the issues arising from the work we’ve done.

This train is a little past its best:

Randomly up today. Mutter.

Today’s late finish wasn’t as late as it might have been, as the office closed at 3pm, allowing us to get on and clear all the desks by around 6pm. It helped that we’d done some already…

As we left, the new desk layout was beginning to take shape, so we should be good to get on with putting some of the kit back in the morning…

Ummm, here are some steam engines for you:

Down a bit today…

Another loooooooooooong day – in early to put computers back on desks, staying late to take them off again.

No early start tomorrow, but it’ll be a late finish, followed by a couple of long days on Saturday and Sunday.

This is the prototype Advanced Passenger Train, which didn’t quite work at the time….

Weight and Stuff Report – 26 August 2015

I think I might be a bit lighter today, but as I didn’t mentally record the number displayed by the scale, I can’t be sure. You see, normally the scale transmits the figure to the Withings service, but that seems a bit borked at present, so I don’t know if it’s received it and will display it when it’s feeling less borked, or if the number has disappeared into a wormhole, never to be seen again. So I’ll assume it was lower.

It was a long day at work – in early putting computers back on desks, and a late finish taking some other computers off desks. And tomorrow we get to put them back on again. And then we stop doing that until Friday afternoon, when we get to take all the computers in the office off the desks so the desk people can do things. Then we get to spend the weekend putting them back again, and doing more computery things. Joy…

Today’s photo is one of the Teesside locals.

Down again today. And it was another late finish, moving more computers off desks. And an early start tomorrow, so we can put them back on. And another late finish so we can take off the final set. Followed by another early start the following day. And then the real fun starts on Friday…

Here’s another Teesside bridge – the Teesquay Millennium footbridge, or as I like to think of it, the quick way from the Teesside office to the shops. Though if the office moves, I’ll have to give it another name.

That’s a large and not really accountable rise today. I suspect the scale of playing silly buggers again.

Today’s photo is another of the Tees bridges. This is the Newport Bridge[1], which is getting a shiny new look after years of being a faded dull green colour. I’d like to think that it’ll be restored to operation – as you might guess from the structure, the road deck used to elevate to allow ships to pass. But I suspect that’s too much to hope for – it would probably be hideously expensive to do…

No change today. The step count comes from my phone, as I forgot to clip the Withings thing on before going out…

Just a quick photo from yesterday – this is the quiet lovely Infinity Bridge, which I reached towards the end of my epic walk:
