Down again today, assuming the scale isn’t lying again.
I had the day off form work – partly because of working in Bristol last weekend, but mostly because my bed was due to be delivered, and that’s not the kind of thing you want left with a neighbour…
Anyway, bed was delivered and put in the correct room by the delivery guys (I paid the extra for that – I could have managed it myself, but it would have hurt…), and I got to work assembling it. The frame is simpler than the old one – just four sections of wood to fit together. Was a bit fiddly, as it involved tightening nuts that were in awkward positions. This does make the fittings invisible, though, so it was worth the effort. The slats that support the mattress are in a metal frame, which was somewhat easier to fit, once I’d adjusted its three legs to the correct length. I then added the mattress, which is much thicker than the old one. A quick lie-down test suggest that it’ll be just what I needed.
I then went out and bought some new pillows and duvet covers, sheets, etc, to complete the new bed experience.
I had a bit of a rest after that, then some cheese for lunch. Then it was time for the usual Friday shopping and washing.
Here’s another airshow photo – this has been cropped and had minimal editing in Lightroom:

And yes, the angle of the smoke isn’t deceiving the eyes – it really was flying more or less sideways…
