Weight and Stuff Report – 22 December 2015

Down again today, in the usual random way.

I went out this morning to buy a thing I’d reserved, and was pleasantly surprised to find it cheaper than I had been led to believe. Whether this was a fresh price reduction or a computer having a bit of fun, I’m not sure. Indeed, it wasn’t until I’d got home that I confirmed that I hadn’t misremembered the price. The thing in question isn’t all that interesting, so I won’t mention it further.

Later, I went to Durham and had a nice wander with the X-T1. Photos from the walk will follow, as tuit supplies permit.

Going back to computer thingies having their little jokes, I was mildly entertained by the fancy new information thingies on the bus stops outside Newcastle station. While they still helpfully tell you when the next bus is supposed to arrive rather than something useful involving real-time updates, unlike previous signs that were just made up of lights that could spell out words, these appear to be LCD displays, so they could be used to display other information. And obviously, they’re not going to use any fancy custom code for that. Naah, let’s just use a web browser:

Where's the mouse?

Where’s the mouse?

Camera: iPhone 6s
Aperture: ƒ/2.2
Shutter speed: 1/35s
Focal length: 4.15mm
ISO: 100
Taken: 22 December, 2015
Location: 54° 58.0122′ 0″ N 1° 37.1592′ 0″ W

And of course, they haven’t locked the thing down, or configured it, or anything like that. So it happily displays messages like the one you can see above….
