I was up and about early today, which meant that I had plenty of time for another photographic day out. I’ve been meaning to go to Alnwick in Northumberland for years, but never quite got around to it. But a bit of research revealed that there’s one bus an hour that takes 1hr 20 min to get there, which seemed a lot better than the two hours most seem to take (limited stop as opposed to going everywhere). And I managed to get to Haymarket bus station in time to get the 10:33 bus. arriving in Alnwick a little before 12 noon. I had a bit of a wander before arriving at the castle, which is not Hogwarts, despite anything you may see involving broomsticks.
I had a good look around, had a wander through the interior (timed nicely, as the rain started while I was inside, and stopped not long after I emerged), and then wandered a bit more, paying a brief visit to a nice little museum before heading to the bus station, where I was entertained by a sick bus being taken away.
Lots of photos to sort out, but here’s a sample which I rather like. I was aiming to get the sun out of the frame, so I could get a clear shot of the castle, but when I saw the flare, I knew I had the shot I hadn’t been aiming for, but was what I really wanted:
